Nyah is my first black doll. I have long had a desire to make she so that I indescribably enjoyed the challenge. Nyah is made of fully natural fibers. Her head, body, arms and legs are needle-felted. In her creation clean, carded wool has been used as a filling and high quality cotton jersey was used to make her skin. There is a wire between the torso and head. She is button-jointed (at the shoulders and hips), which makes them flexible. The doll has hair made from sheep locks discreetly hand-sewn to her head. Creating her clothes has also introduced a novelty into my work so far, as I don’t usually make clothes of such intense colors for my dolls.
