This is the second time I’ve made an angel. Both times I made it for a custom order. Before this, I would not have decided to make an angel on my own, but after these experiences that filled me with joy, I know for sure that there will be more and I am already full of ideas on what the next one will look like.

Vaianu is my second black doll. I enjoyed making the first one so much that I immediately had to make another one afterwards, and there was a marked interest among my customers, too. Even though this short hair that my black dolls have might look simple, it is actually very challenging to make.
Vaianu is made of fully natural fibers. Her head, body, arms and legs are needle-felted. In her creation clean, carded wool has been used as a filling and high quality cotton jersey was used to make her skin. There is a wire between the torso and head. She is button-jointed (at the shoulders and hips), which makes them flexible. The doll has hair made from sheep locks discreetly hand-sewn to her head.

Nyah is my first black doll. I have long had a desire to make she so that I indescribably enjoyed the challenge. Nyah is made of fully natural fibers. Her head, body, arms and legs are needle-felted. Creating her clothes has also introduced a novelty into my work so far, as I don’t usually make clothes of such intense colors for my dolls.

The first three dolls in this gallery are not the first dolls I have ever made, but they were certainly made without any great knowledge or experience, so I consider them the creations of a beginner.
Una, besides being one of my earlier dolls, is the first one where I have used a wire armature. I actually began installing wire into my dolls very early on as I couldn’t figure out how else to solve the problem of movements and keeping poses in a satisfactory manner. I don’t really remember how, exactly, I made her. I recall that I have had many dilemmas around the technical details which I encountered for the first time, and that me and my husband spent hours discussing this. Since he also loves crafting things, he eagerly joined in on thinking about this topic. When I finally completed her, she was my pride and joy, my crowning achievement up until that point.
